XENYX 1204USB

12-input mixer with British EQ, a compressor on each mono channel, an Alt 3-4 subgroup and USB audio

From the rehearsal room to a four-track demo.

Thursday is rehearsal night. The singer needs to hear the vocal over the drums, and the new song deserves a proper recording. The 1204USB handles both from one desk.

Wedges that stay where the band set them

On the 1204USB, the first aux send is labelled MON and is always pre-fader. Move a channel fader and the monitor mix does not change. The STEREO AUX RETURN MON control can add an effect to that monitor mix.

A tighter vocal with one knob

Every mono channel carries a compressor. Turn COMP clockwise to even out a singer who moves from whisper to shout. Condenser mics get +48 V phantom power from the rear PHANTOM switch. A 75 Hz low cut and a 3-band British EQ tidy the sound.

Four tracks of the new song

Send some channels to the Alt 3-4 bus with their MUTE/ALT 3-4 switches. Keep the rest on the main mix. Record the ALT 3-4 outputs and the main outputs together: four tracks at once. The USB port carries a stereo copy of the main mix to your computer.
