A whole set from one machine.
The crowd is moving and the next track is already in your head. On the RD-9 you cue the next song from memory without stopping playback. The beat keeps moving while you build and change it. A whole live set comes from one machine.
Change the groove while it plays
Repeat steps or notes, trigger sounds live, or overdub steps in any sequencer mode. Build song structures on the fly in Pattern Launch mode. Let autofill drop in a fill, or mute a track to strip the beat back.

Rhythms that drift against each other
Loop Overlay gives each drum track its own sequence length. The parts overlap into polyrhythms that keep evolving. Swing, probability and flam loosen the pattern. The 64-step sequencer stores up to 256 patterns and 16 songs.

Analogue drums, shaped live
The kick, snare, toms, rim shot and clap are analogue. The hats and cymbals are samples. Sweep the 12 dB low-pass or high-pass filter and record the sweep into the sequencer. Wave Designer has its own attack and sustain controls to reshape each sound. Ten analogue outputs let you record tonight's set as multitrack audio. The next song starts, the beat has not stopped, and the crowd is still moving.
