A whole live set from one drum machine.
The lights drop and the room is waiting. Every beat of the night lives in one box. The RD-8 MKII stores 16 songs and 256 patterns, and Song Mode chains songs together for a live set. Cue the next song from memory while the current one keeps playing.
Sixteen analogue voices under your hands
Bass drum, snare, toms or congas, clap, cymbal and hats each have their own controls. Tune the bass drum and set how long it rings, or move the snare's SNAPPY knob. Program a closed hat right after an open hat and it cuts it short, like a real hi-hat.

Sweeps that come back every time
Send chosen voices to the FX bus, through Wave Designer attack and sustain controls and a 12 dB analogue filter. Switch that filter between low-pass and high-pass. Turn CUTOFF while recording, and the sweep plays back with the pattern.

Patterns that overlap and evolve
Loop Overlay sets a different sequence length for each drum track, so rhythms overlap and evolve. Pattern length runs from 1 to 64 steps. With a 1/16th step size, 12 steps give you a 3/4 feel.

Out to the desk, part by part
Eleven independent analogue outputs let you process parts outboard or record your rhythm as multitrack audio. Three trigger outs drive external synths and hardware sequencers, and over USB a DAW can control it.
