Two percussion voices you build, bend and play.
A pitch that dives as it decays. A burst of white noise. Two oscillators in FM. These are percussion sounds you design, not samples you scroll through. The SY-1 gives you two analogue channels to shape them.
Six ways to start a sound
Each channel has an OSC MODE switch with six modes. Pick a single oscillator, two oscillators in FM or mixed, FM with added white noise, or white noise alone. In one mix mode, the sweep follows how hard you trigger it. A fader sets coarse tuning and a fine pot finds the exact pitch.

Sweep, decay and movement
The SWEEP switches send each channel's pitch up, down or off, with controls for speed and range. DECAY runs from 6 ms to 2.5 s, depending on tuning. WIDTH sets the filter cutoff. Each channel's LFO runs from 0.4 Hz to 50 Hz with a square or triangle wave. S&H adds sample and hold modulation.

Played by hand, by trigger or by MIDI
The TRIGGER buttons trigger the SY-1 without an external trigger source. The TRIGGER sockets trigger the channels from one. SENSE sets their sensitivity to prevent mis-triggering. In MIDI mode 1, notes 36 and 38 play the two channels. In mode 2, MIDI notes 21 to 84 set the pitch of each channel. MIDI arrives on 5-pin DIN or over USB, where the SynthTribe app adjusts settings.
