One module, a different voice every patch.
Rack space runs out long before ideas do. BRAINS fits 24 synthesis engines into 16 HP. Tonight it is a wavetable lead, tomorrow a snare drum, a chord or a speaking voice.
Three banks, from strings to snare drums
The red bank holds virtual analogue, waveshaping, FM, grains, additive, chords, speech, Karplus strong, super saw and wavetable models. The green bank adds rain, noise, dust, modal strings and a drum kit, from bass drum to toms. In the yellow bank, BX7 mode accepts a DX7 Sysex file over USB, which overwrites the presets in BRAINS memory.

Shape it with control voltage
Timbre, Harmonics, Morph and FM each have a CV input, with attenuators for Timbre, Morph and FM. A trigger fires the internal envelope, strikes the low-pass gate and excites the physical and percussive models. The LEVEL input opens the low-pass gate, setting output level and brightness together.

Watch what you hear
The OLED display draws the waveform for quick visual feedback. Out 2 carries an alternate or variant of the main signal. FREQ covers 8 octaves, from C0 to C8, or narrows to 14 semitones. The module draws 130 mA at +12 V and 10 mA at -12 V.
