ABACUS

Analogue music computer for Eurorack in 20 hp, with rise and fall functions, cycling and SUM, OR and inverted outputs

Händler finden ABACUS (0720-ACO)

Rise, fall, repeat: movement built from voltage.

Some patches need movement that lasts a whole track. Others need a fresh shape on every trigger. ABACUS makes both. Channels 1 and 4 rise and fall, 2 and 3 attenuate and invert, and the outputs add them up.

Shape the rise, the fall and the curve

Channels 1 and 4 each have RISE and FALL time controls, with CV inputs to move them further. A gate or trigger above +2.5 V starts the rise and fall. RESPONSE bends the shape from logarithmic through linear to exponential.

Press CYCLE and it keeps moving

Press CYCLE and rise and fall repeat until you press it again, with the button lit while cycling. A gate of +2.5 V or more at the cycle trigger input starts it from another module. With the controls and attenuverter fully clockwise, a logarithmic cycle lasts 42 minutes 45 seconds. At the same settings, an exponential cycle takes 10 seconds.

Add, invert and compare

SUM adds the voltages set by the four attenuverters, and INV outputs its inversion. OR outputs an analogue OR function of the same settings. Channels 1 and 4 count only when they receive an external voltage. Channels 1 and 4 can modulate each other's rise, fall or both. Channel 4's end-of-cycle output can trigger an external sample and hold. The power cable and mounting screws come with the module.
