HALOS

Physical modelling resonator for Eurorack with Modal, Sympathetic and Karplus-Strong modes, plus FM and chord modes

Händler finden HALOS (0720-ADN)

Strike any sound and let it ring like a string.

A drum hit, a noise burst or a gate can become a plucked note once it has something to resonate. HALOS is that something. Give it a trigger, a pitch CV and an excitation source, and it creates pitched resonant sounds.

Three ways to resonate

Green is Modal, simulating a vibration such as a plucked string. Orange is Sympathetic Vibration, like unplucked strings ringing with plucked ones. Red is Karplus-Strong, where a comb filter simulates the reflections of a plucked string. STRUCTURE changes its job with each resonator. POSITION sets where the string is excited: turn it one way for odd harmonics, the other for even ones.

Every control answers to voltage

DAMPING sets the decay from 100 ms to 10 s. BRIGHTNESS works as a low pass filter up to its centre, then as a damping filter. FREQUENCY covers 5 octaves in semitone steps. Each of these controls has an attenuverter and a CV input, -8 V to +8 V. STRUM triggers new notes from triggers, gates or audio transients.

Modes behind a long press

Hold RESONATOR for three seconds for a new mode. Karplus-Strong gains reverb, Modal becomes two operator FM, and Sympathetic plays chords. Hold POLYPHONY to bounce three voices between the ODD and EVEN outputs. HALOS takes 14 hp, and the power cable and mounting screws are included.
