Ideas arrive on a train, in a hotel room or on the sofa. PHARA-O MINI weighs 0.36 kg and runs from a suitable USB power source. Plug in headphones, touch the 27 capacitive keys and play.
Chords or one big voice
Its three VCOs play paraphonically or in unison, based on the classic 1970s 700 series design. MODE also offers Octave, Fifth, Ring Modulation and Polyphonic Ring Modulation. DETUNE spreads the VCOs for a fatter sound. At high resonance, the 12 dB/octave filter self-oscillates.
Sequences that keep moving
Ten memories hold 16-step sequences. Freestyle mode turns quantisation off and records in real time. The motion sequencer adds control automation, and Smooth evens out the jumps between steps.
Echoes and connections
The delay runs from 1 ms to 600 ms, or up to 1.6 s with Tempo Delay on. SYNC IN and SYNC OUT link analogue equipment, MIDI IN accepts DIN MIDI, and USB-C carries MIDI.
