Record the knob moves, not just the notes.
You find the right filter sweep while a pattern plays. Then your hand leaves the knob and the moment is gone. On D MINI, switch on motion sequencing while you record. Your moves of the cutoff, the LFO rate and most other controls play back with the notes. Smooth evens out the jumps between steps.
Chords, unison or ring modulation
Play chords in polyphonic mode, or stack all three VCOs on one note in unison. Octave and fifth modes give intervals, or choose ring modulation. One switch picks the waveform, from triangle and ramp to sawtooth, square and two pulse shapes. Turn detune away from centre for a thicker sound.
A filter that can sing on its own
Record a slow sweep of the 24 dB/octave filter into the pattern. Turn emphasis up by hand and the filter self-oscillates.
Small enough to come along
D MINI weighs 0.37 kg and takes power over USB-C from a suitable USB source. A 3.5 mm headphone output keeps practice private. Ten 16-step sequences stay in memory, so the patterns you build at home come with you.
