Give your mix eight faders that move.
A mix in your DAW is a row of tiny faders and one mouse. The X-TOUCH EXTENDER puts 8 touch-sensitive motorised 100 mm faders on your desk. Use it on its own, or beside an X-TOUCH in Mackie Control XT mode.
Every channel named and in view
The 8 LCD scribble strips show parameters and labels from your DAW. What each control does depends on your DAW. In MC mode, if your DAW supports it, Rec, Solo, Mute and Select arm, isolate, mute and select each channel. An 8-LED meter shows SIG and CLIP. A push encoder with a 13-segment amber LED ring is typically used for fine control of aux send and pan.

The protocols your software expects
It supports HUI and Mackie Control. In Ctrl mode each element sends fixed MIDI messages, and Ctrl Rel makes the encoders send relative ones. The hook-up guide also shows it sending MIDI control to lighting and video. It is USB class compliant, so no driver installation is required.

Longer cable runs and a hub
The REMOTE port is an Ethernet interface for DAWs that support RTP MIDI. It helps where long USB cables would otherwise be required. Two USB type A hub ports take a mouse, a keyboard or USB MIDI controllers. The hub is only active when the unit is on and connected to a live computer over USB MIDI.
