Four channels of dynamics in one box.
Some signals jump out of the mix, and others hide in their own noise. The MDX4600 gives four channels an expander/gate, a compressor and a peak limiter. Inputs and outputs are balanced XLR and ¼" TRS. The OPERATING LEVEL switch selects -10 dBV or +4 dBu.
Gate the noise, keep the tail
TRIGGER sets the threshold below which expansion sets in, from OFF to +10 dB. Press the GATE switch to mute signals below threshold, such as noise. The long RELEASE setting suits slowly decaying or heavily reverberated signals.

Compression with a soft start
THRESHOLD runs from -40 to +20 dB, and RATIO from 1:1 to ∞:1. INTERACT KNEE switches to the IKA characteristic for a smooth onset of gain reduction. LO CONTOUR keeps heavy bass from making the compressor pump. OUTPUT makes up as much as 20 dB.

Peaks stop where you set them
The peak limiter has a “zero” attack, so it limits signal peaks without any overshoot. ENHANCER boosts treble only during compression, for a more natural frequency balance. 8-digit displays show gain reduction and level.
