The singer leans in for the quiet verse, then lets go in the chorus. You want each word to sit in the mix without riding a fader all night. The MDX2600 V2 gives each of its two channels a full dynamics chain, from expander/gate to compressor to peak limiter.
Compression you feel more than hear
Press INTERACT KNEE and signals up to 10 dB over threshold get a soft knee. Press AUTO and attack and release are derived from the audio itself. The TUBE switch adds the warm, transparent character typically produced by electronic tubes.
Hiss and noise under control
The de-esser helps you remove hiss from a voice, and the MALE switch adapts it to male or female registers. It works while compression is applied. The ENHANCER switch boosts treble only during compression, for a more natural balance. Below threshold, the gate mutes noise or the expander lowers it.
Peaks caught, stereo kept
With its "zero" attack, the peak limiter catches signal peaks without overshoot. Press COUPLE to link both channels for true stereo processing. Feed an external control signal to the SIDECHAIN RETURN jack, or monitor the sidechain with SC MON. Use the IN/OUT switch for a direct A/B comparison. Connections are XLR and ¼" TRS, servo-balanced, switchable between +4 dBu and -10 dBV.
