FET-style compressor and limiter with a Class-A line level amplifier and Midas transformers, for the studio rack

From a gentle hold to an all-out squeeze.

A take can sound right and still jump out of the mix. The 76 lets you rein it in by hand. It is a FET-style compressor with a Class-A line level amplifier and Midas transformers.

Pick the grip with one button

The 4:1 ratio gives fairly mild compression, and 8:1 a heavier one. At 12:1 and 20:1 the 76 acts as a limiter. Higher settings also raise the threshold automatically. Press all 4 RATIO buttons together for an extreme effect.

Timing you set with two knobs

ATTACK runs from 25 to 760 μs, and RELEASE from 80 to 670 ms. Turn INPUT clockwise for more compression, as it sets the level and the threshold together. OUTPUT sets the overall level leaving the unit.

A VU meter you can calibrate

The VU meter shows either gain reduction or output level, chosen with the METER buttons. A rear panel pot calibrates it. Inputs and outputs are transformer balanced on ¼" and XLR, with locking XLR inputs. The PAD switch lowers input sensitivity by 20 dB for hot signals.
