From the kick port to the cymbals overhead.
A phone in the corner of the room hears the drums as one blur. This 7-piece set puts a microphone at the kick, on the toms and snare, and above the cymbals. It is made for studio recording and for live use.
Shape the shells
Mount the C112 bass drum mic on a short stand, just inside the kick drum port. Pointed at the beater, it gives more attack. Turned towards the far edge, it gives a more resonant tone. The TM1500 tom mics attach to the hoop of a tom or snare, with adjustable distance and angle.

Choose how the cymbals are heard
Clip the CM1500 cymbal mics to a pair of tripod boom stands. Place each about 1 m above the ride cymbal and hi-hat, pointing straight down. Or place both above the snare in an XY pattern, capsule ends nearly touching. Switch on 48 V phantom power at your mixer or interface for them.
