Move the mic before you reach for the EQ.
A vocal, a spoken script, an acoustic guitar on its own. The C-1 records each with a cardioid capsule that strongly picks up what is in front of it. Its guide gives one clear piece of advice: find the sound by placing the microphone first.
Aim it, angle it, listen
The cardioid pattern tones down sound arriving from the back of the microphone. Face it at your source, then try different angles until the recording sounds right. The stand adapter fits metric and imperial threads. You can also attach the C-1 to a commercially available suspension mount.

Detail without extra treble
The guide credits a linear frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz. That removes the need for high-frequency EQ, which can increase the noise level. When a loud source arrives, the maximum SPL is 136 dB at 1% THD.

What it asks of your preamp
The C-1 needs phantom power from +36 V to +52 V, and its LED lights up when it receives it. Connect it with a balanced XLR cable. Set the gain so the channel peak LED lights only occasionally or never.
