MS8000

Passive 8-channel microphone splitter with link outputs, transformer-isolated outputs and ground lift switches

Where to buy MS8000 (0601-AHC)

One microphone, two mixers, no power needed.

Doors open in an hour. Front of house needs every microphone on stage. So does the monitor desk at the side of the stage. MS8000 splits eight microphones passively, with no power supply to find. Each input gets a link output and a transformer output. One microphone setup now feeds both front of house and the monitor desk. It weighs 1.1 kg and is 483 mm (19") wide.

Two feeds from every microphone

The link output, wired in parallel, carries a copy of the signal before the transformer. The transformer output sends a post-transformer copy to a mixing board or other device. Press a link switch to pair adjacent channels. Double the outputs of one source, or blend two sources into one. At +4 dBu, the response stays within ±0.5 dB from 30 Hz to 30 kHz.

Phantom power where you want it, hum kept out

Phantom power from a mixer on the link output passes back to the microphones and DI boxes. The transformer output stays isolated from it, so the second mixer never sees it. On linked channels, connect only one phantom source, so no microphone receives too much current. If a ground loop brings hum, release the lift/ground switch. When the doors open, front of house and the monitor desk both hear every microphone.
