XENYX 1003B

10-input analogue mixer with 5 mic preamps, LOW, MID and HIGH EQ, FX and MON sends, and optional battery operation

Where to buy XENYX 1003B (0601-AHR)

Take the mix where there is no socket.

Some sessions happen far from the wall: a field recording, a video shoot, a small combo playing outside. XENYX 1003B brings 10 inputs and 5 mic preamps. It can run from 9 V batteries when there is nowhere to plug in.

Power from the bag or the wall

Open the battery compartment on the bottom panel and insert two 9 V PP3 batteries in the MAIN positions. If your microphone needs phantom power, add a third in PHANTOM. It is safe to run from the AC power adapter with batteries fitted. The adapter does not charge them.

Set every level by eye

Turn GAIN while you sing or play, until the CLIP LED flashes occasionally but not constantly. EQ knobs adjust the LOW, MID and HIGH frequencies, and PAN/BAL places the channel in the stereo field. The L/R METER shows the main output. If its red CLIP LEDs light, lower the MAIN fader.

Effects for the room, a mix for the players

FX sends a channel to an effects processor on the FX SEND jack, returned on a stereo channel. MON builds a monitor mix on the MON SEND jack. That mix is not affected by the channel faders or EQ settings, so the performers keep their balance.
