MODEL D

Monophonic analogue synthesiser with 3 VCOs, a 24 dB ladder filter, an LFO and a Eurorack-ready semi-modular design

Where to buy MODEL D (0718-AAC)

Three oscillators into one ladder filter.

You hear a bass line on a 1980s synth-pop record and want that sound under your own fingers. MODEL D makes it on a pure analogue signal path. Its 29 knobs and 19 switches keep every change under your hand. Turn them until you find the bass you came for.

Build the sound stage by stage

Three VCOs each span 6 octaves, with triangle, saw, square and pulse shapes. Blend them with pink or white noise. The 24 dB ladder filter switches between low pass and high pass, with its own attack, decay and sustain. Push the feedback circuit to overload the VCA without losing the low end.

Play now, patch later

The semi-modular design needs no patching to play. Connect a keyboard or computer over 5-pin MIDI or USB and start. Patch pitch, filter cutoff or loudness from modular gear. Use the 1 V per octave input for melodic control.

From one voice to a bigger rig

MODEL D plays one note at a time. Matched transistors and JFETs reproduce the original circuit. It is also more stable and reliable than its 1970s and 1980s predecessors. Poly Chain combines several synthesisers for up to 16-voice polyphony. The module can also leave its chassis for a standard Eurorack case (not supplied). Wherever it lives, the bass line is yours now.
